Taking a break
I apologize for the absence, but it’s just been too hectic @ home and work – blogging has been the least of my worries… We are heading to the beach next week so I will have an update when we get back…

Happy Hump Day!
Another weekend has come and gone, where does the time go? I had a wonderful Mother’s Day – opted to not go to spin class (though I regret not going now) and hung out w/the boys… Did some grocery shopping and misc. housework – washed some curtains and cleaned windows… I know, crazy, right? Most of the usual, weekend stuff was done on Saturday, so it’s not like I spent the whole day “working”… After I finished, I watched Deck while Eric tended to the lawn… At one point, he was riding his bike through a sizable mud puddle and then decided that running thru it would be more fun… I didn’t have my camera unfortunately, but it was a sight to see! We also had to take a pee brake (yes, outside) and then went in for lunch/nap… Since we didn’t do the Mother’s Day thing for lunch, we did dinner instead – didn’t work out as good as I hoped since a transformer blew and the restaurant lost power… Luckily our order had gotten in before this happened, but we had to move outside since it was pretty hot and smokey in the restaurant… They were getting out what food they could, and poor Eric had to eat his fajitas w/out tortillas (most came home as leftovers)… Deck managed to get his ice cream so not all was lost… It was a wonderful day, with two of my most wonderful boys…
On Saturday, I met some girlfriends for lunch at this place called Founding Farmers… The description on the website says, “From our modern farmhouse, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch menus include homemade and “scratch-made” traditional American classics inspired by the heartland…” I had the florentine and crab benedict with leek hash browns and it was super yummy! I think it would be great to come back for breakfast with Eric and Deck since they had 5 kinds of pancakes including red velvet and banana foster – hello!
In other good news – Deck found his mower… Apparently, it was buried between some bushes and none of us saw it until he was poking around on Sat… To say he’s happy would be an understatement…
This week should be quiet – I have some doctor appts. tomorrow, and then we leave for a short trip to Pittsburgh on Thursday night… We are headed there until Saturday, and then will be going down to my sister’s to celebrate my older niece’s graduation from community college… We are aiming to be home by Sat night so we can be back into a routine on Sunday (plus, I want to go to my spin class)…
Hope you’re having a great Monday!

Mother’s Day…
Between our annual meeting and this research publication, it’s been a pretty hectic week… The meeting ends today and my pub has been printed, but there’s a companion website in the works that should be finished today… For the past two days, the office has been empty and quiet – perfect for catching-up on little things… My boss is also out until Weds so that makes our little corner even more quiet… Perhaps I shall sneak out a tad early today…
Deck has been doing well with potty training – we got him a calendar and give him a sticker every time he goes… The less we push, the more interested he is, so that’s our game plan for now… I am not a believer in forcing a kid to sit on the potty, plus we really don’t have time for that in the morning, and he seems to do okay after work… Daycare said he’s doing well there, so I think it’s just a matter of time before he’s going more… Now if we could only get him to eat vegetables, we’d be set!
Food and exercise have been going well – I started a new weight routine this week and was very sore, but worked through it yesterday… I will take advantage of this beautiful weather we are having and walk outside later, perhaps around the Mall… Weight is the same…
Weekend plans: spinning in the am, and then we are having a local door company come over to give us an estimate on replacing the front & back doors… The front one doesn’t seal 100% and one of the glass panes has been cracked since we moved in, and the backdoor is just old, and takes quiet the effort to get it opened/closed (we don’t use it much)… Later in the day, we are headed to our neighbors for a Kentucky Derby party – should be fun since they are a really nice, older couple, and fun to hang-out with… Plus, they have a lot of grandkids and have this amazing room full of toys that Deck just loves… It’s a win-win for everyone… Not sure what we’re doing on Sunday – I mentioned to Eric that we should go to the zoo…
Hope your week was good and that you have a wonderful weekend… TGIF…

Family…
It’s been a long week, both at home and at work… Eric was in St. Louis from Sunday afternoon until late last night, and work has been busy with blue line edits to the research pub I’ve been working on… I think I managed okay, but definitely appreciate how much Eric does, even if it’s just distracting Deck like while I make dinner… Mornings were okay, but 3 out of 4 days Deck was up before me and was a handful until the moment we got in the car to leave… Evenings were a tad easier, since he likes to watch Curious George, and that gives me 30-mins to get changed, dinner started, etc… Sometimes he wants to watch more and I have to say “no” about a million times… He also tends to get up more at night – daddy is better at making him go down since I tend to cave-in (who can help it)… And bath time was interesting, I’ll just leave it at that… I’m just glad our family is back together again, and just in time for the weekend…
In other news, the scale was down again this week, making my official loss (since January) 10-pounds… I finally took my measurements this morning and need to record them so I can keep track – still kicking myself for not doing this sooner…
Weekend plans: spin class, haircuts for the boys, and then I think we may tackle the flowerbeds and yard… Can you say mulch, anyone? Hopefully the weather will be nice and that we’ll be able to knock it out before Sunday…
I probably haven’t mentioned this, but Eric’s dad had another stroke in March and is finally home, but with in-home care… He was in rehab for about 3-weeks before this, getting all kinds of therapy (occupational, physical, etc.)… At this point, they are unsure if they will return to Pittsburgh anytime soon (or even this year to be honest), so I told Eric that if needs/wants to go to FL to see them, he is more than welcome… It might be too much for all 3 of us to go, but we’ll see what happens… Say a little prayer, if you’re into that kind of thing…
Hope you have a great weekend and Happy Friday!

The scale was nice to me this week, down almost 6 pounds so far… Slow and steady wins the race I suppose… The pants I’m wearing today are pretty big (size 18, but a small 18) – not that they’d fall off me without a belt, but definitely loose in many areas… Hopefully I will feel better in my spring/summer clothes when they are unpacked (project for this weekend)… Go me!
My big research project was sent to the printer yesterday – it really wasn’t stressful or hard, but it did require a lot of organization and keeping everyone moving along… Even with a tighter/earlier deadline, I managed to get everything done and done pretty well, if I do say so myself… Next year, the designer will have more time since our annual meeting is late-May (lucky!)… I am going to enjoy today and tomorrow, and will start working on the HTML next week…
In other news, daycare is starting potty training with Deck… We talked about it during our last meeting, and they said they’re not going to pressure him, but along with our help – they’d start having him wear underwear during the day esp. since they spend so much time outside… I had bought undies months and months ago, when he started to show interest, so at least I had that part ready to go… We put a pair on him last night – as cute as they were, it didn’t work and he had an accident, but at least it’s a start… He looks so big without a diaper, I could just cry!
Well, that’s about it for me these days… We have a busy weekend, and then Eric leaves on Sunday for a 4-day conference in St. Louis… I’m already dreading it, but we’ll be okay…
Happy Thursday…
