it’s been a very, busy week for me here at work and it looks like this weekend will be even busier at home… besides wanting to tackle the flowerbeds tomorrow (mulch), we have a showing at 12:00 and open house on sunday from 1:00-4:00… we had such a great turnout last time, let’s hope it happens again… and then sunday afternoon, eric leaves for texas and it will just be me and the little guy until wednesday… the only plans i have is to get caught-up on my DVR shows – i’m way behind on the office, 30 rock, and what not to wear...:)
in other news – i am THRILLED that deck’s been sleeping until 6:00 am for the past 2 days, but i really doubt it will continue… then again, maybe i’m wrong… the only thing that we’ve changed is his eating schedule, so we’ll see how night #3 goes… he continues to change right before our eyes and according to the scale, he’s up to almost 18 pounds… holy cow!

white is good
sorry for the ugly blog, i was playing around w/a new design last week and haven’t had time to finish… you’ll see something new soon, i promise…
deck has been doing all sorts of new things like rolling over (tummy to back), giggling, and eating veggies w/his cereal… last thursday i was in the basement doing something and eric yells, “deck just rolled over” and of course he hasn’t done it since, but i have faith that he will very soon! he also fell out of his bouncy seat so we’ve learned to strap him in at all times – little bugger is just reaching for all sorts of things… he’s been doing really well with cereal, so i started adding green beans (just a little spoonful) and this week, he’s trying sweet potatoes… so far, so good… he also continues to wake-up a few times a night – sunday it was 1:00, 4:00 and 5:00 so last night – i put a TBSP of cereal in his last bottle and he slept from 9:30-5:00… could’ve been a fluke, who knows, but i was SO thankful to get a good night’s sleep… our asses have been seriously dragging lately… /yawn/
so not much to report on re: the house… sadly, interest has died-off and our realtor thinks we need to lower the price… unfortunately, we have the best house on the block which is both good and bad in the real estate world… if we are serious about selling during the spring market (which is now) we need to make a decision soon… honestly, though we’ve done a lot of work to get the house ready – i’d be okay with staying another year… then again, if we found the house of our dreams – we’d be stupid to miss the opportunity… ugh, it just sucks both ways… 
diet/exercise is still null and void… i have been doing research on jenny craig and really need to sit down with eric and find out if he’s even interested in doing it with me, or if he’d rather try WW… there are pros & cons to both, it’s really just a matter of (1) money and (2) time spent planning… some days, the last thing i want to do is figure out the points for what i’m going to eat so having something already ready to go would be a blessing… then again, in times when we should be saving $$ – is buying food practical? i just don’t know… stay tuned…
my foot is doing well – stitches came out last week and i’m able to wear real shoes again! yay! i have to go back in a week and by then, i should be given the green light to start exercising again… this time, it really hasn’t been that bad (recovery), but maybe i’m just used to it…

hate is strong word
i went back to work today, so far, so good… it was rough getting up this morning, but we managed to get out of the house around the same time considering i have to move a bit slower these days… i was also successful at getting deck back to sleep after he woke at 4am (meaning, no nursing was involved – yay!) so i am hoping this trend continues… regardless of tired we think he is when he goes to bed, he’s still like clockwork when it’s time to wake-up…
on saturday – my lovely family, friends, and husband decided to throw me a surprise birthday party… i was having a very rough morning because deck was off schedule and refusing to nap, plus we had to clean the house since 2 couples were coming to look at the house (or so i thought)… our realtor had suggested that we come to her house for lunch while the house was being looked-at and towards the end of the week, i started to have suspicions but didn’t say anything… while getting dressed – i became disgusted w/myself as i was trying to find something to wear (nothing looks good these days) and i told eric, “i really don’t want to go and would rather stay here”… something told me that i couldn’t dress casual so i threw on my black stretchy pants, a sweater cardigan, and off we went… when we pulled up to her house, i saw her son peak out the window so i definitely knew something was going on… i played it cool and didn’t say anything, but secretly wished that i didn’t have to face anyone because i hate the way i look… when we walked in, i saw the stack of pizza boxes on the counter and then heard “SURPRISE!”… there was no turning back now… i tried to hold back the tears while taking off my jacket, but i couldn’t and cried in my friends arms when i’m sure everyone was wondering what was going on… i just said that i was having a bad day, and i was, but this just topped the cake… i love my friends, i love my family, and i love my husband, but i’m not loving myself right now and it’s very, very hard to deal with (more on this later)…
in the end though – the afternoon turned-out to be pretty awesome… there was good food, good conversation, presents, cake, and of course – deck was being passed around like nobody’s business… he is such flirt, i swear, and all my girlfriends were ohhing and ahhing over him all day… best present of the day – an ipad 2 (thanks to eric) and a spa gift certificate… i need to turn 40 more often!

no turning back
holy end of january – how did that happen?!?! time is just flying by, now that i’m back to work, and today is the first day that i actually feel normal (not exhausted)… deck slept from 11:00-5:30 and even though he still has a bit of a cold, he’s been a trouper and doing really well… my cold got pretty bad last week and on thursday (the same day as the big snow), i chose to stay home and rest… the daycare was open so eric dropped him off and i had every intention of staying in bed all day but by noon, they called and said there was no power so we had to pick him up… the day went fine, but i felt pretty crappy and know there will many other times where this will will happen so i may as well get used to it… by yesterday, i was feeling better and today i’m only stuffed-up so i’m hoping that’s it… nothing like having the whole family down and out…
thursday was also the day when our POD was delivered – nothing like a smack of reality showing up in our driveway… it’s amazing how big it is and how quickly it’s filling-up – we spent the better part of saturday (my mom helped watch deck) moving out furniture, boxes, and bins… yesterday, eric started on the bathroom floor and i packed-up a closet and some other random stuff, cleaned the bathroom, and did laundry… it’s tough trying to do things around deck’s schedule esp. since his naps are shorter at home than at daycare, but we’re doing the best we can… eric hopes to get the floor done this week, then we can paint and move ahead with installing the new toilet, sink, and light fixture…
still no progress on exercise or WW, but it’s coming!

what a great way to start the week – pittsburgh is going to the superbowl! yay! so very excited! i was sorry that we couldn’t watch the game at eric’s parents, but we wanted to hit the road in order to beat traffic and be home in time… deck did an amazing job, as always, though we had to stop twice on the way up to feed and only once on the way back… i feel bad that he’s stuck in the car seat for so long, but make sure we get some stretches-in and make sure he’s not wearing too many layers… unfortunately, last night was rough though since he missed a nap and was very hungry.. he also cried and cried when we put him down to sleep, but after about 5 minutes – all was quiet and he had fallen asleep… i just wish he would do that during the night (i blame myself for getting up instead of letting him cry) because he was up at 4:00, 5:00, and 5:30… he IS a joy in the mornings though and has a good time with eric while getting dressed and having breakfast…
we had a good visit with eric’s family – his mom seems to be doing well and his dad was in better spirits (maybe turning 80 is the key!)… the family had dinner on saturday night so we were able to see everyone and hangout for a while, which is always good… it was rather cold though – minus 6 on friday night and in the single digits for most of the weekend… deck also had a chance to meet his 6-year old cousins, rigel and austin, though they were more interested in their video game, puzzles, and legos… besides hanging out – eric and i also went to lowe’s and bought pretty much everything we need for the downstairs bathroom redo (for under $500), so that’s the next big project in the weakland household… my mom is going to come down this weekend to help pack and watch deck – the more we clear-out and get things in order, the sooner we can list the house, and start putting in offers on ones we like… and even though we found a house that we absolutely LOVE – we have stopped checking to see if it’s still listed because it would break our hearts if it was…

365 days gone like that
happy new year’s eve, everyone… and merry belated christmas… it’s been a great holiday with the little one and i’m looking forward to 2011 and all that it brings… we have decided to stay in this evening and have plans of ordering dinner thru takeout taxi and watching paranormal activity… we also may try putting deck in the crib (overnight) and i’m trying my best not to think about it since him leaving our bed makes me very sad… it’s been such a joy lately watching him discover his hands, coo, and stick-out his tongue when we go to bed – i will miss his cute little face that’s for sure, but i know it’s time… he starts going to daycare in 11 days!!!
christmas was good – we attempted the candlelight church service and deck was good for the most part, but he had his fussy parts so we took turns walking around (i think he enjoyed the music though)… on christmas morning, we had a quiet few hours here opening presents and hanging out before heading to my mom’s for dinner… eric got me a new camera – the nikon coolpix s8100 – which is the one in that commercial with ashton kutcher… i haven’t used all the settings yet, but it’s fantastic in low-light and the continuous shooting is pretty cool… it can also shoot video in HD so i’m pretty excited… deck got me a necklace with his name and birthdate and i plan on wearing it everyday… eric loved the print i had framed for him and we’ll be hanging it in the LR as soon as i take down all the decorations…
on sunday – my brother hosted the family christmas dinner so we headed to PA and spent the afternoon with my mom, my sister’s family, and my brother’s daughter and husband… deck got a lot of clothes, books, and this dog named scout that can be programed to play music, games, and read to him… it started to snow in the evening so we headed home and then hosted my nieces here since we were going shopping the following day… that was a fiasco, that’s all i have to say – there’s was a lot of miscommunication between where to meet and when… i had to feed deck in the nordstrom’s ladies room, and then couldn’t find my mom & sister because my nieces had her cellphone… ugh! when i finally found them – my mom said she had lost her purse in macy’s for a time but thankfully, someone had turned it in and nothing was missing (thank god!)… it was a long day, that’s for sure, and we were happy to get home and resume our normal schedule…
this past week went by pretty quickly and i only have 1 more left before going back to work… i can’t believe it’s gone by this fast and here i thought i would have nothing to do and be bored out of my mind… granted, i’ve had the holidays to keep me busy but really – i didn’t do anything over what i normally do (though i didn’t bake any cookies)… i did go to the foot doctor yesterday and talked to him about surgery #2 on my foot – it’s been okay but during the last month or so, it’s started to hurt pretty bad and i know the other tumor needs to come out… when, i’m not sure and will have to talk to my boss about being out another week sometime in february… they took molds of my feet for some orthodics and he said this should help relieve pressure on the bottom of my foot (esp. since i have high arches) – they should come in around 3 weeks…
today, we have lunch plans with my friend and then we need to find some dress pants for eric since he has an interview on monday… and we both decided that we need to hunker down and lose weight in 2011, so i’ll probably do weight watchers again… i thought about nutrisystem since they upgraded their food, but it’s not recommended for women that are breastfeeding…

this isn’t my christmas present, right?
so much for spending the weekend with the hubby – eric has been out for most of the day looking at new trucks, and is in the process of finishing up the paperwork as we speak (see pic below)… it’s not that we didn’t love the truck we had, but there was no room for a car seat and that’s a big factor considering we go camping and take long trips to PA… he did his research and even drove it here so i could go for a ride – i gave my approval though it really wasn’t needed (but very appreciated)… my dad always owned a truck and i have found memories of riding around with him and my dog, and am glad that eric will be able take deck on road trips to home depot and god knows where else… i love the color!

and in other news – eric’s mom is having a heart valve replacement on thursday so he may be heading to pittsburgh for a few days… his parents were supposed to be heading to their condo in florida, but she had an abscessed tooth and because of that – the doctor discovered that she had more urgent matters to take care of… unfortunately, eric’s dad will have to go into a nursing home for a few weeks while she recovers, but i feel this is the best option since she’s his primary caregiver and will need taken care of herself… i know it’s such a crappy time be having surgery, but i’m glad she’s not putting it off and that there’s a lot of family around to help out… prayers and positive thoughts would be appreciated…
i can’t believe that christmas is 1 week away! i have 1/2 of my shopping done and will need to step up the pace this week… we’re not a big-present type of family, but the nieces still get presents and i’m sure deck will get his share of stuff so i’m pretty excited… still debating on how we’re going to manage christmas eve service, but i’m hoping he’ll be well fed and sleepy…
