monday
It was an utterly brutal weekend here – temps never dipped below 90 and for the better part of saturday, it was above 100… We were very thankful to have AC and even more thankful that Eric found a generator at Home Depot, so we’re prepared for the next power-outage… Besides being ungodly hot, it was the usual weekend stuff – breakfast at the diner, haircuts for the boys, and a run to BJ’s which is one of those local wholesale places (free weekend)… We grabbed some meat, fish, juice boxes, yogurt, salad mix, and a rotisserie chicken for dinner… I love these because they’re usually pretty good AND there’s always leftovers for stuff like enchiladas, which I’ll be making for dinner tomorrow… As for the rest of the day – we stayed indoors and did some projects around the house… I also did 30-minutes on the elliptical while watching Paula Deen cook unhealthy food…
Yesterday, we thought it would be fun to take Deck to a local park that has a mini-train you can ride… It was hot and very humid, even at 10:00, so we rode the carousel to kill time and then it was time for the train… It’s not a long ride, but it takes you through the woods, a bridge, and a tunnel and takes maybe 10-15 minutes… I’m usually not bothered by hot weather, but when it’s humid – I hate it, so we piled back into the truck, blasted the AC, and headed home… The rest of the day, once again, was pretty much spent inside playing and working on small projects… I made stuffed peppers for dinner, using our first batch from our plants, and ended the night watching True Blood…
On Friday, I had my annual physical and all my levels looked good – cholesterol and thyroid were okay and EKG was normal… He did say that I needed to lose weight and duh, I know this, but hearing it from a doctor always hurts just a little bit more… I’m doing my best, that’s all I can say…
Hope your having a great Monday…
